Ronda Rousey, Carmouche exposes weakness in Rousey, The end came as most expected Saturday night: with UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey defending her title with a first-round armbar submission of Liz Carmouche at UFC 157 in Anaheim, Calif.

It’s the way Rousey has finished every one of her mixed martial arts opponents and appearing in the Octagon for the first time proved no different. But Carmouche did something no other fighter had ever done -- give Rousey a scare.

For a brief moment, Carmouche got Rousey’s back in a standing position and attempted a rear-naked choke. Carmouche twisted Rousey’s neck, and it appeared that maybe, just maybe, one of the biggest upsets (betting-wise) in sports history was unfolding.

Woodward: Obama Not Telling Truth on Sequester

Woodward: Obama Not Telling Truth on Sequester, Despite President Obama’s insistence that Republicans are to blame for the coming sequester, The Washington Post’s Bob Woodward maintains that the commander-in-chief need look no further than his own White House if he wants to blame someone.

“The president and (Treasury Secretary Jack) Lew had this wrong,” Woodward penned on Friday. “My extensive reporting for my book 'The Price of Politics' shows that the automatic spending cuts were initiated by the White House and were the brainchild of Lew and White House congressional relations chief Rob Nabors — probably the foremost experts on budget issues in the senior ranks of the federal government.”

Woodward, who is an associate editor at the Post, said the $85 billion in automatic spending cuts that are set to begin on Friday are surrounded by “misunderstanding, misstatements and all the classic contortions of partisan message management.” The cuts amount to a total of $1.2 trillion over 10 years.

Scarlett Johansson Engaged

Scarlett Johansson Engaged, Today in celebrity gossip news: ScarJo might be getting hitched again if a big ring is to be believed, Justin Bieber goes partying in London, and Anderson Cooper whoops it up in Brazil.

I hear wedding bells!! Really, I do. All the time. Bells, constantly. It's some sort of terrible condition or syndrome. Every day is a living hell. The bells. Always the bells. And it's not helping that Scarlett Johansson, currently starring on old Broadway in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, is sparking rumors that she will soon be marrying for a second time. The actress was spotted recently with "a giant pear-cut diamond ring" on her ring finger, which has people whispering that her boyfriend, French journalist Romain Dauriac, has become her fiancé. That would make a Canadian and a Frenchman for Ms. Johansson, so after this she'll have to marry René Angélil or something. That is if she has plans to get married at all. It could just be an everyday giant pear-cut diamond ring, something she picked up as an impulse purchase while buying socks. We really don't know. But the minute it is official, if it becomes official, I'm sure that Dauriac, as a French journalist, will immediately alert the French press.

Obama Lawn Sign Battle

Obama Lawn Sign Battle, An Obama lawn sign battle that began in 2008 in an Olde Belhaven neighborhood between a Northern Virginia Fairfax County family and their homeowner’s association cost the community more than just money, according to a Feb. 9 Washington Post report. The Washington Post has an amazing story about how an Obama lawn sign ignited an intense legal battle in a Virginia neighborhood.

Sam and Maria Farran put an Obama election sign up in their yard leading up to the 2008 election. But what seems like a harmless political statement allegedly violated the stipulations of the homeowners association that governs the sleepy Virginia neighborhood where they live. The sign, it turns out, was four inches too tall. One particularly overzealous neighbor filed a complaint with the association and the Farrans were asked to take it down. Instead, they had a batter idea. They cut  the sign in half. The homeowners association didn't appreciate the couples' humor, though, and fined them $900 for the infraction.

President Obama declared a state of emergency for Connecticut, allowing federal aid to be used in recovery, and utilities in some hard-hit New England states predicted that the storm could leave some customers in the dark for days.
“We’ve never seen anything like this,” said county official Steven Bellone on New York’s Long Island, which got more than 2½ feet of snow.

Grammy Dress Code

Grammy Dress Code, The folks behind the Grammy Awards want to make one thing clear: When it comes to the dress code for this year's telecast, there are no ifs, ands or butts.

Producers have reportedly sent out detailed and militant guidelines to this year's nominees and attendees advising them on the proper attire to wear to Sunday's show, in an obvious attempt to avoid a Janet Jackson–esque wardrobe malfunction of FCC-catastrophic proportions (or at least a suggestive costume like the one Pink wore while performing at the show in 2010).

In a straight-faced, if unintentionally riotous, email purportedly sent out by Grammy honchos and obtained by Deadline, attendees are requested to "adhere" to an apparent "network policy" on curbing those wild duds.
