Kansas State 81, Texas 69, Kansas State shot 48 percent from floor and 50 percent from beyond the 3-point line to ignite an 81-69 victory over Texas on Saturday night at the Frank Erwin Center.

The Wildcats (22-5, 11-3 Big 12) had their second-best 3-point shooting night of the season. They also sunk 20 of their 22 free throw attempts.

The win gives the Wildcats the regular season sweep over Texas - they trounced the Kabongo-less Longhorns, 83-57, Jan. 30 in Manhattan, Kan. -- and keeps them within a game of the Kansas Jayhawks in the race for the Big 12 title.

There was one report that Bynum practiced that leaked out Friday, but given a lack of pomp or other corroboration, no one was sure it was true. But it was. And according to coach Doug Collins via USA Today Sports, it wasn't even planned: Bynum just kind of jumped in and asked if he could play. He did, off and on during the scrimmage.

The multicar crash occurred near the end of the Nationwide Series Drive4COPD 300 race at the same Florida track where Sunday's Daytona 500 will be held.

The race had recently restarted after another wreck, after which driver Michael Annett was hospitalized for bruising to his chest, according to Richard Petty Motorsports.

Several closely-packed cars were jostling for position at top speed when they got tangled up, setting off a dangerous chain reaction that ensnared a number of vehicles.
