Teen Posed As Medic, They're generally known for their professionalism and sensitivity but it appears this paramedic just couldn’t help themselves after an overturned ambulance left a photo opportunity too tempting to turn down.
The emergency vehicle - which was not carrying any passengers - was believed to be responding to a 999 call when it overturned near Pembury Hospital in Kent after colliding with another vehicle on Sunday afternoon.
And while frustrated drivers found themselves stuck in lengthening queues while waiting for the ambulance to be removed, emergency workers decided to make the most of it – posing up next to the overturned vehicle. An onlooker who witnessed the scene said: ‘The ambulance crew started posing up next to the ambulance as police officers took pictures of them. They couldn’t stop giggling and messing around.
It just seemed very wrong to me. It was very unprofessional.’
While no one was seriously injured in the crash on Tonbridge Road, the driver of the other vehicle was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The onlooker continued: ‘There was even someone being treated in another vehicle while they were taking these pictures.
‘There was a lot of traffic and the queues were just getting longer and longer.
‘Quite a few drivers were getting quite irate that their Sunday afternoon was getting held up while the emergency service workers appeared in no rush at all.
‘The fire service on the other hand was very professional throughout.’
The incident comes just a few weeks after the police named and shamed drivers who slowed down at a crash scene where a female driver was stuck inside a truck for more than four hours to take pictures on their mobile phones.
A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) said: 'Thankfully no-one required hospital treatment as a result of this collision and the behaviour of the staff did not impact on the treatment of any patients. However, the way in which our staff behaviour is perceived is of course extremely important and we will be reminding those involved that some people may view these actions as unprofessional.
